Women want to look and feel beautiful. Whether or not we feel good about ourselves will impact every aspect of our daily lives. If you were born with small breasts or they have deflated after weight-loss or pregnancy, you may be longing for larger and fuller-looking breasts. Breast implants, with or without a breast lift, can give you the confidence and body you deserve.

What Exactly Are Breast Implants?

Breast enlargement surgery is a procedure that is used to make breasts larger, rounder and fuller while providing a natural-looking appearance. During the breast augmentation procedure, Dr. Huddleston will insert an implant behind each breast. The incision will be made in the breast fold so your scar will not be visible when you are wearing your bikini. Our office chooses to use silicone implants because we feel they give women a look and feel that is closest to their natural breasts. Dr. Huddleston will discuss your options and give you an idea of the best breast size for your body. Women can choose to increase their bust by one or more bra cup sizes.

What Should I Expect?

Breast augmentation surgery is an out-patient procedure. After your surgery, you will be able to return home after you have awakened from anesthesia, usually a few hours later. Your breasts will be wrapped to minimize swelling and to help with the healing process. You will need to wear the support bra given to you for at least one to two weeks, while also taking care of your incision to prevent infection. You will be given instructions for how you should care for yourself after surgery and a follow-up appointment with Dr. Huddleston will be scheduled. You will want to take it easy for a few days following the surgery and return to your normal activity when you have the go-ahead from Dr. Huddleston.

Are There Risks Involved?

As with most surgeries, there is a risk associated with anesthesia and possible infection of the incision site after your operation. Risks that are correlated to the breast augmentation itself include capsular contracture, skin wrinkling and implant failure. Capsular contracture happens when scar tissue surrounds the implant and becomes hard and painful. Surgery is often needed to repair this issue. Silicone implants pose less of a risk than saline implants.
